Please join us for the IMA South Central Indiana: Power Data Analysis in Excel on April 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM EDT
Take a look at the tools for importing, cleaning, and summarizing data in Excel.
Microsoft quietly added a suite of tools to Extract, Transform, and Load data into Excel. Known internally as Power Query, they were quietly hidden away on the Data tab under the group called Get and Transform Data. In many cases, the tools in Power Query make long tasks in Excel dramatically quicker. Plus, after you clean the data once in Power Query, it becomes one click to repeat the analysis next month or next week or next hour.
- Use Power Query to combine all of the workbooks in a folder
- Re-shape data using Power Query in Excel, using both Unpivot and Split to New Rows
- Add a parameter cell to Power Query
Bill will then cover tools for summarizing data in Excel:
- Adding dozens of subtotals in seconds
- Using the Consolidate command
- Deep dive on pivot tables
- How to unlock pivot table features using the Data Model
