President's Message

April 30, 2019

For those of you who are on the tax side of our profession or volunteer in that area, happy end of tax season! I wish you all a well-deserved break.

This past month we had the pleasure of having Margaret Powers, executive director of the Columbus Philharmonic, join us in speaking about not-for-profits and how program and accounting practices differ from for-profit entities. What made this session even better is that Margaret is a past president of the South Central Indiana chapter, serving between 1997 and 1998. I’m sure those of you who were able to join us enjoyed yourselves, and for those of you who weren’t able to join, I’m sure we’ll be asking Margaret to come again someday and you won’t want to miss it.

While our IMA year is wrapping up for the 2018-2019 season, that just brings us all the closer to the IMA Annual Conference Expo and to the chapter competition awards. I know how hard our board has worked this year to keep up the good work of previous years and I’m hoping that is reflected in our chapter standings. As soon as we hear how we finished, I will make sure to put the results in my president’s message and share with you all.

Last, we are wrapping up the process of developing and nominating a board for the upcoming July 2019 to June 2020 year. If you are interested in joining the board or would like to nominate someone to be on the board, please feel free to reach out to any board member directly listed later in this newsletter, here on our website, or email our chapter email at We would love to have you join us!

Hope you are all enjoying the spring weather that has thankfully stayed with us before the summer’s heat!

Cassandra Kuczmanski
